I began medical school as an only parent of 4 children in my 30’s. I had been drawn to medicine for years but it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with cancer in my late 20’s, that my path became clear to me. I joined Kaiser in the early 90’s and have felt fortunate to belong to this culture of integrative medicine. I have transitioned from clinical medicine to hospital medicine and have been integrating palliative medicine into my practice since 2011, when I grandmothered into this discipline. I hope to continue to practice palliative medicine after I retire, (which is not far away).
