Expressionism, particularly the artists of Die Brücke from pre-war Germany, showed me how to be uninhibited in my palette of color and in my choice of form. I believe art, whether written or visual, must be honest. It cannot be filtered by mundane expectations, clichés, or fears of being misunderstood.
